DC Apparel offers custom design services on all of our products.  We strive to create unique, well thought out designs that help relay your message effectively.  Whether we are designing a new business logo, tee shirt, full color banner, sign, poster or a web page.  DC Apparel has two graphic artist that have a combined 30 years experience in the design field!  Design services are based on complexity, time involved and revisions.

Quotes are given on individual basis and priced per job.

SCREEN PRINTING
IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A LOGO OR GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR SCREEN PRINTING

Art that is "100% READY FOR PRODUCTION" means  that an art staff member will be required to do no more than open a digital file and hit the print button. IF ANY FURTHER ACTION IS REQUIRED, THEN ART PRE-PRODUCTION CHARGES WILL BE BILLED. Standard turn-around time for pre-production work is three business days; if a shorter time period is required, a rush charge of 20% will be added to any fees charged.

DIGITAL FILES: Digital art files include those designs created and saved from a professional graphics program or those designs exported from a graphics program at HIGH RESOLUTION.

Our file format of choice is a generic vector eps file that can be opened, resized or manipulated at any size and resolution we require. Acceptable file types include eps, ai, pdf, cdr, psd, tiff or jpeg, SO LONG AS THESE FILES ARE PROVIDED AT THE FULL SIZE OF THE INTENDED REPRODUCTION AT HIGH RESOLUTION (a minimum 300 dpi). Any and all fonts must be included with the exported file, or all fonts must be turned to paths prior to export.

Our program format of choice is Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw, with the design spot-color separated with no trapping or overprinting. Acceptable graphic program formats include files created by Photoshop, Illustrator and CorelDraw. Please note that MICROSOFT WORD, POWERPOINT OR ANY PAINT PROGRAM FILES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE DIGITAL FILES AND CANNOT BE USED! To output properly, any and all attachments and fonts must be included with the native file, or all fonts must be turned to paths.

TO BE CONSIDERED "100% READY FOR PRODUCTION" AND AVOID PRE-PRODUCTION CHARGES, ALL FILES MUST MEET THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED ABOVE AND BE FULLY SPOT-COLOR SEPARATED! If a provided file must be color separation by DC Apparel before it is output to film, then the time that it takes our art department to create these spot color separations will be billed to the customer.


IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A LOGO OR GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR SCREEN PRINTING
The best in professional artwork and design services are available from the art staff at DC Apparel, Inc.! Using our professionals to create your logo from scratch provides not only a high level of professionalism, but also ensures that the designs will translate perfectly into screen printed and/or embroidered works.

All time spent on a design project will be tracked and billed to the customer, including the time spent on discussing concepts and making revisions to the concepts presented.

Feel free to discuss ideas, time estimates and fees prior to submitting your order to us, so that both parties clearly understand the expectations and all of the potential applications for the design prior to development.

PRODUCTION SPECIFICATIONS

MAXIMUM ART PRODUCTION DIMENSIONS:
- hat fronts/left chest designs: 4"w x 2.5"h
- full front or full back on adult apparel: 13.5"w x 15"h
- bags and other accessories: vary by specific product
Dimensions may reduce if printing on adult sizes S or M.
Youth and infant sizes reduce maximum dimensions further.

GRAPHIC DESIGN AND PRE-PRODUCTION SERVICES
$50 per hour billed in 15-minute increments
The following work is covered under this billing:
- graphic or logo design and development
- design concept discussions (phone or email)
- screen printing color separation
- digital file output preparation
- scanning and color correcting
- any and all other design and/or pre-production services

NOTE: DC Apparel, Inc. provides graphic design services for our clients only. We do not accept graphics jobs that are to be produced elsewhere, as we want our loyal customers to receive the exclusive benefit of our art talent and product ideas. For jobs that will be produced by DC Apparel, but also require the distribution of art files to be used in other implementations, see the "Art File Package" below.

RUSH CHARGES
20% added for all rush design, pre-production and production work
- standard design time is three business days
- standard color separating time is three business days
- standard production time is seven-ten business days
- all orders required in less time than standard will be charged as "rush"

ART FILE PACKAGE (for use outside of DC Apparel, Inc.)
$125 per design package/set (plus hourly art time charges)
- for art files to be used in applications outside of DC Apparel, Inc.
- design provided in native file format plus standard exported formats
- native files reformatted to include setups for spot and process color use
- resizable vector images provided when possible
- art files provided by email in a .zip file

We are willing to create a design that is used in other implementations (your website, your marketing materials, etc.), so long as you also purchase production from us for screen printed or embroidered apparel, promotional products, etc.
Specifically, if you purchase at least $500 worth of production/products from DC Apparel, Inc., we are happy to provide art files to you for outside use. If you choose not to purchase production services after we design your logo, we can provide the completed art files to you for the nominal fee described above (plus hourly art time charges) to use at your discretion.

EMBROIDERY
IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A LOGO OR GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR EMBROIDERY

Art that is "100% READY FOR PRODUCTION" means the customer provides a digitized embroidery file to us in one of the formats listed below, ready for sewing. UNDER ANY OTHER SCENARIO, DESIGN AND/OR DIGITIZING CHARGES WILL BE BILLED.

DESIGNS, LOGOS AND ART FILES: Digitized embroidery files are created by importing an existing graphic or logo into a digitizing software program and then "tracing over" that design with stitch patterns. These images can be scanned from a paper copy that contains your design, or they can be imported from a digital art file (including low-resolution images taken from the web).

Paper copies of logos or designs should be presented at the highest resolution possible, and in a color format. Letterhead is an acceptable option (more so than business cards, because typically the logos on business cards are small and printed on textured paper). We can also use black and white line art as the tracing pattern, so long as any color breaks required are designated in some way.

Digital art files of logos or designs are created and saved from a professional graphics program or exported from a graphics program. Acceptable graphic program formats include files created in Photoshop, CorelDraw, Illustrator, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint or any paint program that can export an image. Acceptable exported file formats include eps, gif, jpeg, or bmp at any resolution, but the higher the better. Any and all fonts and attachments must be included with every file type, or all fonts must be turned to paths. Images taken from websites are acceptable for creating digitized embroidery files, so long as they are large enough to see clearly.

The bigger and cleaner the provided art, the easier it is to digitize and the more accurate the final result. Color breaks must be made apparent on this artwork, so that these color breaks can be built in to the digitized file.

Standard turn-around time for digitizing existing artwork is three business days. If digitizing is required in less than three business days, a rush charge of 20% will be added to the invoiced amount, plus any and all shipping charges involved with sewout approvals.


DIGITIZED EMBROIDERY FILES: DC Apparel, Inc. prefers to use TAJIMA [.DST] digitized embroidery files, as this format sews best on our embroidery machines. (IMPORTANT NOTE: we cannot edit or resize TAJIMA .DST files! Any .DST files provided must ready for sewing!)

We also accept the following digitized embroidery file formats: .EMB & .DSB. Each of these file types can be opened and edited through our systems.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A LOGO OR GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR EMBROIDERY

Using our professionals to create your logo from scratch provides not only a high level of professionalism, but also ensures that the designs will translate perfectly into screen printed and/or embroidered works.

Remember that there are two parts to creating an embroidered image: the development of a logo or graphic design, and the digitizing of that design to create a computer file that instructs the embroidery machine what to sew where. These are two distinct processes, and the billing for each process is separate (see our EMBROIDERY GALLARY for examples).

IF YOU WANT ONLY EMBROIDERED TEXT (no graphic/logo/design/image) ON YOUR PRODUCTS, THERE ARE NO DESIGN OR DIGITIZING FEES; customers only pay a typsetting fee of $10 per setup. We will set the text to your specifications in preparation for embroidery. Text setups include only type/letters/words; no graphics, icons or logos included. Billed per set of words sewn in a single location.]

DIGITIZING FEES
$50 Flat rate (pocket / cap size under 5 inches)
$100 Standard full back design (over 7 inches)
$10 per name or monogram, if using our stock lettering fonts.

We will e-mail the results to you for approval before proceeding. You will receive the scan of our sewout. Sewouts are only made of the original digitizing, not of edits.

$10 per setup

EDITING OF PREVIOUSLY DIGITIZED DESIGNS
$40 for revisions requiring less than 30 minutes to complete
- will quote major revisions

RUSH CHARGES
